All six hotels on this site accept pets. The table gives each hotel’s policy as published on its official website (hyatt.com, marriott.com or hilton.com) on October 1, 2026. Fees change, so confirm the policy with the hotel when you book.

Service animals

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ada.gov), a service animal is a dog individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability; trained miniature horses are also covered. Hotel staff may ask only whether the dog is required because of a disability and what task it has been trained to perform. A hotel that charges pet fees or deposits must waive them for service animals, but may charge for damage. Dogs whose only role is comfort or emotional support are not service animals under the ADA. Marriott.com states that the Marriott Waterfront and the Westin accept service animals without a fee or documentation, and hyatt.com states that the Hyatt Regency exempts them from its pet fees and policy.

Pets on BART and in the airport

BART requires all pets that are not service animals, including emotional support dogs, to travel in a secure, enclosed carrier made for transporting pets. Service animals must be on a leash or harness and stay off seats and out of aisles. The AirTrain and the hotel shuttles do not publish pet rules on the pages checked for this guide; ask the hotel before you travel with a pet on its shuttle. SFO lists its animal relief areas and terminal rules for animals on flysfo.com; they were not confirmed for this guide.

Getting to the hotel with a pet

The Grand Hyatt is the only hotel reached by the AirTrain without a road transfer. For the other five, the SFO to city transfer guide lists shuttle times, BART, taxis and rideshare. If you are also travelling with children, the family hotels guide covers cribs, pools and breakfast at the same six hotels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which SFO airport hotels accept dogs?

All six hotels on this site accept pets according to their official websites. Published fees include $100 per stay for up to 6 nights at the Grand Hyatt at SFO and the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, $125 at the DoubleTree (pets up to 30 pounds) and $75 for 1 to 4 nights at the Home2 Suites (dogs and cats only). The Hyatt Regency accepts dogs only.

Can I take my dog on BART from SFO?

BART requires every pet that is not a service animal, including emotional support dogs, to travel in a secure, enclosed carrier made for transporting pets. Service animals may ride on a leash or harness and must stay off seats and out of aisles.

Do hotels charge pet fees for service animals?

Under the ADA, a hotel that charges pet fees or deposits must waive them for service animals, although it may charge for damage the animal causes. Emotional support animals are not service animals under the ADA, so hotel pet policies and fees apply to them.
